Following on from the release of his debut Official Top 20 record German, Columbia Records UK were scheduled to release the single Tick Tock from (the then) 17 year old YouTube comedian-turned-rapper, EO.

With the objective of engaging EO’s core, loyal YouTube fanbase while simultaneously introducing his newly acquired music fanbase to his comedic side, Forward Slash was commissioned to ideate and deliver social media content to form part of the release campaign.

our strategy + WORK

Forward Slash’s strategy was to focus on repurposing moments from existing campaign content that would be highly shareable on social platforms. I.e. the music video for Tick Tock and a series of ‘Tick Tock Challenge’ videos.

To achieve this we created a number of short meme-style video clips and a suite of gifs which were uploaded to Giphy for easy access via the Twitter keyboard. To support the social media rollout of the campaign we devised and delivered weekly content plans and consulted on social media creative.

the impact + reach

  • Clips from the “Tick Tock Challenge” video trended as memes in under 24 hours

  • The best performing tweet had 705 retweets and 1,356 ‘likes’

  • In total the clips achieved over 80,000 impressions and 32,000 media views on Twitter in under 24 hours
